Connecting Device 

The connecting device is typically the item that attaches your body support (harness) to the anchor or anchorage connector. It also is the component of the system that will absorb energy and safely stop the worker in the event of a fall.

Connecting devices such as lanyard are the simplest but provide a limited amount of movement such as 6 ft. (1.8m). Rope grabs and vertical lifelines provide added mobility and self retracting lifelines can offer maximum freedom of movement.​
